![]() My Personal Interests
This page will highlight some of my activities in addition to my professional career. I believe that each of us have been placed on this planet with a unique purpose and distinct destiny to fulfill. Many of my personal pursuits involve my passion for helping others less fortunate and to help my fellow sojourner as we travel through life. Please check out my website www.hope4women.com for more information. My family and I love to serve at our church, Bethany Grace Fellowship in East Earl. I am involved in the women's ministry and teach the adult women's Sunday School class for over 18 years. In recent years, organizing and leading community Bible studies has been a wonderful way of meeting women all across our community. Current studies are held Monday mornings in Denver and Tuesday mornings at Ephrata Church of the Brethren. Serving on the Board of Directors of Life Change Ministries International has been another change in the last year. This ministry reaches children in India through camping and has their headquarters in Ephrata. Another local ministry reaching girls in India that I am associated with is HOME International. This ministry supports 3 rescue homes for abandoned girls in several locations in India. I have traveled with this ministry to India four times over the past 5 years. More recently, HOME International opened a non-profit thrift store, Second Street, outside of Denver with all proceeds going to the support of these homes. Check out their store, donate your used clothing & household items and support this ministry! Several years ago while traveling with HOME Int., I met a native Indian woman boarding a plane and subsequently came to support her Christian ministry in the slums of Delhi. Sarah has a heart to reach children in these slums to give them a hope and a future. She teaches them English through Bible stories, songs and scripture. Many of the families are now attending a local house church. Here are some of the highlights my trips: October 2008 On returning from a recent trip to India, my mind was in overload. You cannot imagine some of the sights we saw. Filth, poverty, homeless children roaming in the streets, beggars on every corner, families struggling to survive in their broken-down shacks and so much more. How does one process all this desperation and obvious despair? Our team visited many families in the largest slum in Delhi, leper families, run-down facilities for the mentally ill and spent over a week in one of the rescue homes for orphaned girls that I support. The following photos will give you a glimpse into life for many in India. Families from the slums line up to fill their water jugs from the tanker truck.

In spite of the overwhelming poverty you witness everywhere, India does have a wealth of natural beauty with the dramatic Himalayans, winding rivers, steep mountainous areas, lush rice patties and tea plantations to tintilate your senses.
